Men’s Ministry

Men, our participation in church is not only vital to our own faith journeys, but it’s also crucial for us to set a strong, faithful example for our families. Here at Sunrise, our Men’s Ministry is constantly developing and adjusting. We have been a strong and active group for many years in a variety of mission fields. Our goal has always been to provide opportunities for men to find fellowship that will grow their trust in each other so they can in turn grow into a deeper relationship with Jesus. Whether those opportunities involve cooking together, pursuing construction activities together, meeting in small groups to study scripture together, or raising funds together to support a variety of ministries, we have tried to maintain a foundation in fulfilling Christ’s call to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind and soul and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

We are always looking for ways to be impactful. Are you looking for an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself? We would love to have you join us as we seek  opportunities to share Jesus’ love.

Cooking Together

There are numerous opportunities throughout the year for the men of Sunrise to get involved. However there are a few traditions we try to hold onto. For example, our Men’s Breakfast occurs on the second Saturday of each month starting at 8:30 am. This is an informal opportunity to break bread together and grow in support of each other. In May of each year around Mother’s Day weekend, we host our Men’s BBQ Fundraiser. Chopped BBQ plates are sold to raise funds to support ministries within our community and beyond. Our Fall tradition is cooking homemade Brunswick Stew over an open flame in a cast iron pot to support ministries near and dear to one of our most beloved members. The Bob Mustian Brunswick Stew Sale honors the late Bob Mustian and helps raise funds to support Gideons International and the Methodist Home for Children. Our last tradition of the year helps to support the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and other men’s activities through a pork shoulder sale on December 31. What can I say, we like to cook!
