At age 16, Ann was surprised to find that God loves each of us intensely and unconditionally, just as we are. Being amazed by the depths of God’s love has continued to motivate Ann to grow in her faith and follow Christ.
After receiving her degree from the University of Illinois, she worked as an English teacher and then corporate editor for five years before attending Trinity Evangelical Divinity School where she received her Master of Divinity degree, with a specialization in cross-cultural ministry.
For the next 18 years Ann lived with her husband and two children in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where they served as missionaries. Ann learned to speak Thai, so she could help Thai people learn about the forgiveness that God offers through Christ. Other ministries included teaching English to help Thais increase their employability, teaching U.S. Literature and Journalism at an international high school while leading youth groups and bible studies for high schoolers.
Since returning to the U.S. in 2012, Ann has enjoyed connecting with diverse international students as an instructor for both Wake Tech and NC State.
Ann’s work at Sunrise UMC centers on helping equip adults to learn God’s word and to grow in their love for God and others. She’s excited about the potential for each of us to grow more deeply in our faith when we become a part of a life group. Life groups are small groups of believers who gather every week or two in homes in order to learn God’s Word, share their lives and reach out to others.
In her free time, Ann enjoys playing tennis, gardening, reading, eating out and going to the theatre.
