Habitat for Humanity

Sunrise partners with several area churches to form the Southwest Wake Coalition, which builds a house with Habitat for Humanity each year! We also typically provide lunch for the workers on 1 or 2 Saturday workdays! Whether you are an experienced carpenter or even if you are all thumbs, there is a job for you! Habitat provides experienced (and extremely patient) contractors to help guide you with any task you are assigned. No experience necessary! Habitat Wake empowers individuals and families to apply to build and purchase their own affordable homes. Qualified families commit to completing 200 hours of “sweat equity” volunteer hours, including 30 hours of financial and homeownership classes, paying closing costs, and making affordable monthly mortgage payments.

If you would like more information, go to the Southwest Wake Coalition homepage at https://www.habitatwake.org/faith/southwestwake or contact Ryan Brummeyer at ryanbrummeyer@gmail.com. To sign up to build, go directly to http://vhub.at/southwestwake, and please let Ryan know if you’ve signed up!

In 2018 – Sunrise is helping to build a house in Fuquay-Varina! We need volunteers to serve lunch for the workers on 1/6; and we need Sunrisers and friends to sign up to build on 1/6 (5-7 volunteers); 1/27 (5-10 volunteers) and 3/10 (5 volunteers).

Acts 20:35—In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ―It is more blessed to give than to receive.
