Warmth for Wake

Want to channel your inner lumberjack? Here’s your chance! When the weather starts getting colder, the Sunrise UMC men get to work to ensure our neighbors stay warm. Warmth for Wake is an outreach program that provides free deliveries of firewood to homes that can use it to offset their gas or electric consumption. Weather permitting, we have scheduled workdays every-other Saturday from October through March. We haul and split downed trees that are “gifted” to us, then deliver the wood to local residents in need. Typically we deliver about 8 loads/month or 40-50 loads per season. And working together with the other Sunrise UMC men (and sometimes friends and children) really gives us a chance to get to know each other!

We are always appreciate of volunteers with pick-up trucks that are willing to haul/deliver wood. Even if you don’t have a truck, we always need help with splitting and stacking the wood. All you really need to volunteer is a willing heart and a pair of gloves!
