So you attend worship services, you pop in for big events, maybe even joined in a mission opportunity. You know a few folks by name, more by face, and you’re starting to get comfortable here.

What’s next? How do you dig into this community in a meaningful way? How do you find the spaces where you’re not just welcome, but needed, loved, counted on? How does Sunrise become your spiritual home?

The short answer is small groups. It is a tried and true model for building and maintaining meaningful relationships in a church community, and after a couple thousand years of data, we’re on board. Specifically, our Wesleyan heritage emphasizes how essential these small group connections are to our spiritual health and growth. By meeting regularly with the same people to study, share meals, pray, laugh, serve, and worship together, we form the bonds that are the true lifeblood of the church. And whether you join a group that’s been around for a decade or start something brand new, there is a place for you here where your gifts and perspectives are exactly what we need.

Koffee Klatch

This longstanding group meets every Sunday morning at 10am in Room 112 for study and discussion. Filled with many long-time Sunrise members, these folks take their dedication to this church seriously, but not themselves. They’re kind, they’re chatty, and they’re ready to welcome you into the fold.

Men’s Night Out

MNO has been around for many years now, and if there’s a brewery within ten miles of Sunrise, they’ve visited it. This is a relaxed, fun group gathering open to all guys looking to simply spend some time together. The location changes month to month, but the third Thursday of the month is usually their sweet spot. This is where the ideas are shared and the plans are made, so pop in when you can.

Monthly Men’s Breakfast

Every second Saturday of the month, the guys assemble at the church to cook breakfast together, fresh coffee in hand. The meal begins at 8:30am, as does the laughter, prayer, and discussion. The door is always open, friends encouraged.

Pop-Up Bible Study

This seasonal group takes on a book or two of scripture on a seasonal basis, meeting to read and discuss on Sunday mornings at 10am in Room 111. In the past, they’ve tackled Kings, Ezra, and Nehemiah. Join in anytime for a kind, casual atmosphere in which to study scripture.

Thursday Thoughts

A brand new option for women, Thursday Thoughts is a Bible study built for those who want to dig deeper. Join this small group on Thursday mornings at 10am in Room 111 to build stronger relationships with God and with other Sunrisers.

Women’s Day Circle

Another longstanding group, the WDC meets every fourth Tuesday of the month at 11:30am for service, discussion, prayer, and fellowship. They are diligent and generous, with a different charitable collection every meeting, while also planning fun outings for lunch or ice cream. Led by a founding member of our church, these ladies are as sweet as can be; if you’re looking to join a group of kind, faithful women, this is it.

Women’s Evening Group

When meeting during the day wasn’t an option, this group popped up to serve working women still looking for connection. Meeting on a monthly basis, these women prioritize fellowship and bonding experiences, checking out cozy coffee shops and pizza joints in the Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina area, as well as planning weekend retreats to get some valuable time together away from their busy lives.

Women’s Sunday School

This group of women digs into scripture as well as devotional material and spiritual non-fiction together on Sunday mornings at 10am in Room 110. Whatever the reading, the discussion is always thoughtful and inspiring.

Young Families

Formed to connect parents of young children, our Young Families small group meets on Sunday mornings between worship services at 10am in Room 107/109. Led by Pastor William, they study, share ideas, and pray together, all connected by this most hectic and wonderful life stage.
