Lorraine Romiti

Lorraine Romiti serves as the Traditional Worship Leader and pianist. She has been playing the piano since the age of nine and has a lifelong love of music and teaching. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Lorraine moved with her family to Charlotte, North Carolina when she was in third grade. She is a graduate of Myers Park High School and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a minor in Music.

Knowing from an early age that she was called to teach, Lorraine devoted 27 years to public education. She currently serves as the Choral Director at Holly Ridge Middle School, and a fun fact is that she spent much of her career teaching eighth-grade science. This year marks her retirement from the education system, closing a meaningful chapter and opening the door to new opportunities in ministry and service through music.

Lorraine’s faith journey deepened profoundly following the loss of her eldest son in 2016. Through prayer, belief, and music, she has experienced healing and renewal and now understands faith in a deeper and more personal way. She feels most at peace when playing music for God and helping others do the same, and she considers it a sacred privilege to offer music as an act of worship.

Lorraine resides in Fuquay-Varina with her husband, John, their cat, Treble, and their dog, Banjo. Her daughter and her family live across the street, and she is the proud grandmother of four grandchildren—her favorite role of all. Her youngest son also lives nearby in Fuquay-Varina.

In her free time, Lorraine enjoys crocheting, making and teaching others how to create chunky hand-knit blankets, reading, cooking, and spending time outdoors. Her hope for the future is to continue growing the traditional music ministry by forming an adult choir, a children’s choir, and, God willing, a handbell choir.
